Becoming involved with the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma program has been a dream come true. Last year I was so fortunate to have been the team manager for both the 2016 Grand Canyon and Machu Picchu treks, working with two teams of incredible and inspiring individuals. I knew from the get-go that my dream was to one day participate in one of these treks. Well – now is my chance! I will again be the team manager for the 2017 Grand Canyon trek, and it is with great pride that I will be also be joining this team on the ground in Arizona to take on the Bright Angel Trail!
Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma, for me, is about so much more than the trek itself. It is about bringing together myeloma-connected individuals from all walks of life. It is about patients showing the world that they are so much more than this disease. And it is about celebrating the progress that the MMRF has made in its research and its fight to extend the lives of so many loved ones.
I am taking on this challenge so that, one day, many other patients and their loved ones can also take on their own challenges. This is my way of giving back to the organization that I truly believe in and am so proud to work at. I am so inspired everyday by what the MMRF is accomplishing.
Go team! Grand Canyon, here we come!
